For the past eight years, Isaias Torres has expertly guided students through the college admissions process, helping them earn acceptances to a wide-range of schools, including Princeton, UCLA, Cornell, Georgetown, Mount Holyoke, Vassar, Wellesley, Barnard, Amherst, and Columbia.

As a first-generation college student, Isaias navigated much of the application process on his own, ultimately gaining admission to Rice, UNC Chapel Hill, and the University of Virginia. He chose Rice University, where he earned a BA in history and religious studies along with his teaching certification; he then went on to complete his master’s degree at the University of Houston.

In 2015, Isaias fulfilled a longtime dream of teaching abroad. His career has since taken him to international schools in Rome, Guadalajara, and Salvador de Bahia, where he taught AP and IB courses, advised student clubs, and mentored students with a wide range of goals and interests. He also completed Rice University’s College Access Counseling Certificate and spent two years working with the College Essay Guy, helping students craft personal, authentic, and memorable narratives. These experiences deepened his ability to support students not only in strategic planning, but also in thoughtfully shaping the stories that define their applications.

Isaias believes that the college process, often seen as confusing and stressful, can instead be a journey grounded in clarity, purpose, and joy. This philosophy is one of the reasons families choose Isaias and Scholar Co. more broadly. His approach is rooted in deep listening, thoughtful reflection, and genuine connection. He takes time to truly know each student, helping them uncover the values, stories, and experiences that make their applications meaningful.
