Ginger studied cognitive science at the University of California, Berkeley where she also pursued her strong interest in education by tutoring introductory computer science and teaching art classes to elementary school kids. She went on to work as a technical consultant for one of the largest electronic medical recording systems in the United States, working specifically with reporting applications and predictive models. Inspired to pivot back to education by the training and professional development work she did, she earned her TEFL Certificate and moved to Suzhou, China to work as a writing tutor and admissions consultant. In this role, among other responsibilities, she developed a writing workshop to help all levels of English language learners better express themselves and navigate cultural challenges and stereotypes as they looked to further their educations abroad.
Once back in the United States, Ginger continued to work with high school students on their undergraduate admissions essays, application development, strategic positioning, and organization. At Scholar Co., she brings strong attention to detail and communication skills, compassion for each student as an individual person, and a great combination of warmth and directness. She is passionate about guiding students in crafting narratives that highlight their unique strengths and interests while helping them connect these passions to future educational and career opportunities.
